Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, announced the roll out of the W935xx series, a high performance WDCT (World Digital Cordless Telephone System) baseband chip family. The highly effective 8-bit single chip utilizes a TDMA approach; it has 24-slots per channel, emits voice or data, and can support up to 12 handsets and one base station. It offers BMC (Burst Mode Control), a technology responsible for administering WDCT communication. The highly integrated IC is able to execute communication commands for keypad, LCD control and other functions. For handsets, intercom, conference calling, or to provide multi-line analog and ISDN functions, the chip is designed with three channels ADPCM and a PCM mixer. In addition, the chip's 8-bit analog-to-digital converter also features RSSI detection and handset battery capacity detection functions providing the highest level of power management for the WDCT system.
The W935xx chip works with 2.4GHz frequency hopping mode and 1.9GHz radio frequency mode; the former is utilized on the FCC unlicensed band for WDCT (World Digital Cordless Telephone System), and the latter is utilized for standard DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication System). Winbond's WDCT product family includes the ICs with Handset Speakerphone, Caller ID Type-1/2, SMS (Short Message System), low cost Mask ROM versions and others. Winbond also offers a complete development & demo system (software included), which enables developers to quickly and easily develop products for meeting time to market.
