- W681511 Targets Voice Over Networks, ISDN and Telephony Apps
(San Jose, CA) Winbond Electronics Corporation America, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions to the consumer, computer, communications and electronics products markets, today introduced the W681511. The chip is a single channel voice CODEC IC featuring improved performance and competitive pricing over other solutions currently on the market. The chip is aimed at Voice Over Networks, ISDN and telephony manufacturers looking for a cost competitive replacement ICs than those currently available on the market today. It is the third in a family of CODEC chips rolled out by Winbond America in nine months. The W681511 is currently shipping in volume quantities and is priced at $1.15 for 25,000/quantity.
The W681511 offers all of the features of Winbond's family of voice CODEC solutions including low power (10uA and 100nA typical power consumption in standby and power down modes) and 4.5 to 5.5V single supply voltage. The chip is compatible with Motorola MC14LC5480 with minor differences, and in most cases can be directly substituted into existing Motorola sockets. The device is offered in 20-pin SOP packaging.
