(San Jose, CA) - Winbond Electronics Corporation America, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today introduced the ISD1600 ChipCorder® series of single message record/playback ICs. The ISD1600 is the first series of ChipCorder® devices designed to operate from 2.4 to 5.5V, making them ideal for two or three-battery powered applications. The ISD1600 series feature 6.6 to 40 seconds in record/playback duration, pushbutton operation, LED indicators, and an integrated speaker driver, which provides both PWM and current-mode speaker outputs. The ICs are targeted at a broad spectrum of markets and applications including consumer electronics, industrial, automotive and novelties; samples are available now.
Based on Winbond's proprietary Multi-Level Storage (MLS) ChipCorder® technology, Winbond's ChipCorder® solutions are well known for low power operation, non-volatile message storage and industry-leading sound quality. The ISD1600 series (1610, 1612, 1616 and 1620) offer user selectable sampling frequency from 4 to 12KHz. Fully integrated system functions include: AGC, microphone preamplifier, speaker drivers, oscillator and memory. It is available in 16-pin SOIC and PDIP as well as in DIE form. Pre-programming support is available using the IT2000 from Infontek, www.infontek.com.
