Winbond Presents the 8-bit (8051 Core) LPC Series and the 32-bit (ARM Core) Microcontroller with Reference Applications at SemiTech Taipei 2007

1. Powerful Industrial-Class 8-bit LPC Microcontroller (51-Core) Series
Winbond introduced the W79E8XX LPC series to critical acclaim. The product series features high resistance to interference and static electricity, and is suitable for general industrial control applications e.g. power control, motor control, E-Bike control, lock control, AC control, treadmills etc. A reference application for E-Bike control will be on display during the upcoming International IC China Conference & Exhibition.
The product series benefits from its high processing power, with 2.5x the performance of traditional 8051 microcontrollers under identical operating frequencies. The processor has the capability to reach speeds up to 20MHz, in additional to having 2K to 16K of flash ROM and 128B to 512B of built-in SRAM; along with 128B to 256B of memory capacity for power loss storage.
This product series provides a complete development system with full-scale hardware and software features, including a JTAG simulator, programmer and support files. The complete system will assist the designer in developing a product that can be brought to market quickly, ahead of the competition. By adopting the W79E8XX series, one can also use the ICP (In Circuit Program) feature for direct updating from the online system and thus improve the product’s overall flexibility and expandability.
2. Highly-Integrated General Use 32-bit W90P710/W90N745 Microcontroller
Winbond is introducing the highly integrated general use W90P710/W90N745 microcontroller and complete development solutions to the market. This complete solution will shorten product development time for system manufacturers and allow clients to bring products to the market quickly. W90P710/W90N745 uses the ARM® ARM7TDMI microprocessor core, developed with a 0.18um process, that can reach operating frequencies of 80MHz. The on-chip 4Kbyte I-Cache and 4Kbyte D-Cache can be configured as on-chip RAM if required by the developer.
The W90P710 development system will be on display during the upcoming IIC-China exhibition. The W90P710 is an STN LCD controller that supports high-resolution TFT display monitors. Attendees will be able to experience the electronic photo-frame presentation on display. W90P710 also includes 4 UART interface ports to support various client applications connecting to peripheral devices, e.g. barcode scanners, VFD modules, management ports and Bluetooth® modules etc.
For system integration, W90P710 not only is suitable for electronic photo-frame products, but also for products that require a LCD display such as POS (Point-Of-Sale) and data collectors, etc. On the other hand, W90N745 is applicable to network related applications such as management switches, IP cameras, VoIP and printer servers, etc.
