(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of November 2002. Revenue for the month was approximately NT $3.02 billion, an increase of 57.5 percent, when compared with NT $1.923 billion over the same period last year. Accumulated revenue for January to November 2002 was NT $29.554 billion, an increase of nearly 35.26 percent, when compared with NT $21.849 billion over the same period last year.
Winbond's monthly revenue has been stable since June 2002, with November revenue exceeding NT $3 billion. The Company showed slight growth when compared to previous month of NT $2.961 billion. In addition to good pricing for DDR memory products in the first half of November, Winbond also experienced an increase in November shipments for memory ICs used in mobile electronic products.The Company estimates that this trend will continue, gradually yielding increased revenues over the next year.
Winbond has been focusing on developing new memory solutions for mobile products, including a joint technology agreement with Fujitsu on Pseudo SRAM and low power DRAM. In concert with that on-going effort, Winbond's memory product has recently been evaluated and accepted by a number of multi chip package (MCP) suppliers. The Company's 1T Psuedo SRAM product line continues to gain marketshare; production orders from Japan's MCP manufactures--mainly for 32MB and 64MB products--have been received. Production volumes for this product line continue to increase. With the aggressive demand brought about by mobile communications for the growing multimedia services market, the outlook for color screen cellular phones and mobile electronic products is considered excellent in many industries. Therefore, Winbond estimates that this will be one of the main forces driving revenue growth for next year.
