(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of February 2004. Revenue for the month was approximately NT 2.749 billion, an increase of 24 percent when compared with NT 2.220 billion the previous month.
The revenue for the month of February increased 24 percent in comparison with that of February. The increase was due to the fact that the Company resolved Memory Product back-end capacity issues that were caused by a product-mix reshuffling last month. The Company's production management system was also restored to normal status, thus streamlining the shipping flow. In addition, Winbond's objectives to phase out commodity DRAM and focus on higher-profit Pseudo SRAM and specialty DRAMs proved to be successful.
With lower sensitivity to price fluctuations and expected higher demand, these specialty memory products are expected to contribute greatly to Winbond's revenue in the coming months.
Similarly in Logic Products, the increase in market demand combined with concentrated customer orders and shipments for motherboard ICs also contributed to February revenue. Furthermore, the launch of new Consumer Speech ICs and achievements from last year's design-ins resulted in an outstanding operational performance. As we approach the peak season for Logic Product shipments, the Company expects an even better revenue outcome in the second quarter.
