Winbond Announces Monthly Revenue for September

(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of IC product solutions, today announced the revenue results for the month of September 2006. Revenue for the month was NT$3.22 billion, an increase of 3.11 percent when compared to NT$3.12 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to September of 2006 was NT $23.33 billion, an increase of nearly 15.02 percent, when compared with NT $20.28 billion over the same period last year.

In terms of Logic Products, as Personal Computer related products kept up the hot season effect from last month, the sales of both Motherboard Related ICs and mobile handset backend IC increased. Nevertheless, due to the low season effect of Consumer Electronics, the overall revenue of Logic Products decreased. In terms of Memory Products, because the market demand and price for DRAM rose abundantly, and the output of 300mm fab continuously increased, the overall revenue of Memory Products grew.

The current output of 300mm fab at Central Taiwan Science Park has reached 19,000 wafers per month. Winbond will continuously increase the volume of production, and the capacity is expected to reach 24,000 wafers per month by the end of this year. In addition, the market demand and price for DRAM are expected to be better which will push the performance of overall revenue forward.
