(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of April 2007. Revenue for the month was NT$ 2.67 billion, a decrease of approximately 5.98 percent when compared with NT$ 2.84 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to April of 2007 was NT$ 12.168 billion, an increase of nearly 41.96 percent, when compared with NT$ 8.571 billion over the same period in 2006.
As the Consumer Logic products gradually entering the traditional high season, the shipment of Speech ICs increases steadily. For the Computer Logic products, the continuous Vista upgrading effect has driven up the revenue from the I/O. Besides, the foundries in China have shipped ahead of the schedule because of the golden vacation week. Therefore, the shipment of notebook computer’s embedded controller also had a big boost. However, the overall revenue was slightly influenced by the low price of Commodity DRAM.
The price of DRAM is expected to stay weak. Conversely, the demand of Logic products appears progressively which helps to ease off the impact on the company’s performance from the DRAM price fluctuations. Currently, the 80nm production process test is going smoothly at 300mm fab in CTSP. Due to the implementation of the advanced process technology, the production cost can be reduced and the production per wafer can be increased in the future.
