(Taipei News)Winbond Electronics Corp. announced today the internal auditing results of its March 2000 monthly revenue. Revenue for the month was NT$3.195 billion, an increase of 42% when compared with NT$2.247 billion over same period last year. The accumulated revenue for this year, January through March, totaled approximately NT$9.614 billion. This reflects an increase of 47% when compared with the accumulated total revenue of NT$6.534 billion over the same period last year.
Within the Company's DRAM Business Group, Winbond's processing is gradually moving to 0.175-micron technology. The Company estimates that this processing technology will be utilized at full capacity by the third quarter of this year.
The General IC Business Group continues to focus its efforts on growing markets, and estimates that considerable progress will be made in areas of videophones, internet network application ICs, TFT-LCD driven and control ICs. Therefore, it is also expected that the General IC Business Group will experience significant growth compared to last year.
Because of the current strong market, steady roll-out of new products and continuous improvements in production procedures, both Winbond's General IC Business and DRAM Business Groups expect to show superior growth potential in their business.
