(Taipei News) May 9, 2003 ĄŞWinbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of April 2003. Revenue for the month was approximately NT $2.07 billion, a decrease of 32.68 percent when compared with NT $3.08 billion over the same period last year. Accumulated revenue for 2003, January to April, was NT $8.80 billion, a decrease of nearly 21.51 percent, when compared with NT $11.21 billion over the same period last year.
Revenue for April was down approximately 7 percent over the previous month. This was primarily due to a continued slackening in market demand for DRAM and the fact that the second quarter is traditionally considered the slow season for information technology products. The Company will continue to enhance its product portfolio and focus additional efforts on developing and marketing its line of niche mobile communications and specialty DRAM products. Winbond continues to focus on making its product lines more flexible while accelerating the rate of introduction for new products. The Company estimates that through this strategy, its growing product portfolio will be one of the main forces driving revenue growth in the second half of the year.
