(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of October 2004. Revenue for the month was approximately NT 2.353 billion, a decrease of 0.39 percent when compared with NT 2.362 billion the previous month.
In terms of Logic Products, due to the low seasonal effect of consumer products in the fourth quarter, the demand for Speech IC and mC-based consumer ICs decreased. Therefore, the decline in shipments led to the slight drop in logic revenue. In terms of Memory Products, the demand for Specialty DRAM returned to its previous level but was still restricted by the decreasing price. Pseudo SRAMs decreased due to weak mobile phone consumption carried over from the third quarter as well as adjustments in customer inventory levels.
Winbond recently launched several new mC-based consumer ICs to the market, such as the 1.3M to 2.1M pixel handset Digital Still Camera backend ICs, with MPEG4, auto-focus, and zoom-in/zoom-out embedded functions, and the 40- to 60-channel polyphonic ringing tone chips. These new products are expected to be a positive addition to the Company's competitiveness.
