Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the audited financial results for the fourth quarter and year-end of 2005. For the fourth quarter of 2005, net sales totaled NT $7.533 billion. Net loss after tax was NT $63 million and net loss per share was NT$ 0.01. WinbondĄŚs 2005 annual revenue was NT $27.815 billion, a decrease of 11 percent when compared with NT $31.215 billion in 2004. Winbond's 2005 net loss after tax was NT $1.435 billion. Net loss per share was NT $0.35.
Revenue in the fourth quarter decreased 4 percent versus the third quarter of fiscal 2005. In terms of Memory Products, shipments of Pseudo SRAM and NOR-Flash were flat. However, due to the decreasing price and shipments in some products such as Specialty DRAM etc., Memory revenue was dropped. As for Logic Products, sales of Notebook and Server I/O ICs were slightly raised owing to the steady demand from notebook market. Traditional seasonality resulted in lower revenue of consumer products, in which Speech related ICs were the main driver. Therefore, Logic revenue was relatively declined when compared to the last quarter.
Looking forward to 2006, by positioning itself as a Mobile Electronics Solution Provider, Winbond commits to consolidate resources and grasp superior products to increase revenue. In addition, with 12-inch fab entering into mass production stage, Memory products will be started to increase shipment steadily. As semiconductor industry is expected to grow, as a whole, Winbond maintains a cautiously optimistic attitude towards 2006.
