Winbond Announces Monthly Revenue for January

(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of January 2007. Revenue for the month was NT$ 3.6 billion, a decrease of approximately 14.20 percent when compared with NT $4.196 billion in the previous month, but that is an increase of nearly 72.50 percent when compared with NT $2.087 billion in the same month of 2006.

Both Memory and Logic Products performed well in January. Because of the higher calculated base caused by the price adjustment with customer side in the end of last year, the overall revenue of this month decreased relatively. Indeed, if the price adjustment is not included, the revenue of this month did increase slightly. In terms of Memory Products, full capacity of 300mm fab coupled with raising 90nm production proportion contributed to the output growth. Shipment of Specialty DRAM also increased substantially. Thus, the Memory Business revenue was increased. As for Logic Products, the sale volume of PC Related ICs and Motherboard Related ICs increased. The performance of Logic Products remained stable and the revenue grew slightly.

The 80nm technology of 300mm fab has entered the stage of sample production. The increasing of production technology and yield will contribute to the performance of the whole revenue. However, the DRAM market has been impacted by the weak price since the end of fourth quarter last year and fewer working days in February. As a result, the overall revenue of February is expected to be influenced slightly.
