(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of August 2004. Revenue for the month was approximately NT 2.480 billion, a decrease of 6.92 percent when compared with NT 2.664 billion the previous month.
With the impact of the weak mobile phone market demand and the customers' adjusting the inventory, the third quarter revenue was lower than expected. In terms of Memory Products, as the customers adjust the inventory and the Pseudo SRAM and Specialty DRAM reduced the shipment, the Memory revenue is decreased. In terms of Logic Products, the demand is decreased as the need of home appliances related consumer ICs has been influenced by the low season. In addition, as the digestion of TFT-LCD monitor inventory did not meet expectation, the decreasing demand of TFT-LCD drive ICs affected Logic Products performance.
Winbond will continue to focus on the consumer and wireless products field and enhance the deployment on new product applications. Also, with the constant effort on the improvement of production yield, the Company's operational performance is expected to be elevated in the future.
