(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced its preliminary April 2000ĄŚs financials. The total monthly revenue for month ending April 2000 was NT$3.562 billion compared to NT$2.309 billion from same period the previous year. This represents an increase of 54 percent. Accumulative revenue for year 2000, year-to-date, was NT$13.176 billion. Compared to the financial results from the same period last year of NT$8.844 billion, this represents an increase of 49 percent.
April's revenue reflects an increase of NT$0.367 billion over the company's March 2000 financial performance. This can be attributed mainly to the stabilization of DRAM pricing and the excellent gross margins of the Company's non-volatile memory products. The Company expects that, moving forward, a significant portion of its revenue growth will be derived from Flash Memory, LCD Driver ICs, and Internet related application ICs. Worldwide, the industry will continue to struggle with shortages in the DRAM market especially during the latter half of the year. Winbond anticipates that by increasing its DRAM production and by ramping up its 0.175-micron production technology in the second half of this year, the Company's DRAM product revenue will also experience significant growth.
