(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced internal auditing results for August 2000. Revenue for the month of August 2000 was NT $5.578 billion, a significant increase of 170 percent when compared with NT$2.068 billion over the same period last year. The accumulated revenue for January through August 2000 totaled approximately NT $32.076 billion, an increase of more than 90 percent compared with the accumulated revenue of NT $16.875 billion over the same period last year.
In July 2000 the Company reported revenues of over NT $5 billion, an all time high. This month, Winbond Electronics again broke all Company records by posting another record month, this time totaling NT $5.578 billion. Overall, August sales revenue for the DRAM Business Group increased, with current production capacity exceeding 30,000 wafers per month. It is expected that all the production technology will continue to improve as the Company transitions to 0.175 micron in fourth quarter of this year. The General IC Business Group experienced an increase in demand, in particular for speech IC products. Revenues for the General IC Business Group for the month of August 2000 exceeded NT $300 million. In addition, CD-ROM IC products also experienced considerable growth due to increased market demand with August 2000 revenues for that product line exceeded NT $100 million.
