Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of May 2004. Revenue for the month was approximately NT 3.114 billion, an increase of 2.25 percent when compared with NT 3.046 billion the previous month.
The steady increase was due to the Company's success in adjusting its product mix. Winbond's strategy to phase-out commodity DRAMs, which are more sensitive to price fluctuations, has shown to yield a more stable and profitable performance in the long run. However, due to production capacity limitations again in logic and memory products, May revenue was somewhat equal to that of April.
Although the second quarter is traditionally a slower season in the industry, Winbond expects to utilize its adjusted product mix, with its strategy to raise wafer prices, and lower production costs, to maintain a better and stable performance in the coming months.
