Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced revenue results for the month of May 2005. Revenue for the month was NT2.286 billion, an increase of 19.39 percent, when compared to NT 1.914 billion in the previous month.
Winbond's increase in May revenue was from the sustained performance carried over from the previous month. In terms of Memory Products, the improvement was mainly due to increased demand in the mobile phone market. In order to accommodate the increased orders from the customers, the Company switched its production capabilities to produce Pseudo SRAMs and Specialty DRAMs which have higher gross margins, thus generating increased revenue and solid profitability.
As for Logic Products, acquiring the intellectual property and assets of National Semiconductor's Advanced PC Division had revealed beneficial results in May. Through the Company's vast sales network, the high-end mixed mode signal, I/O and other related products began shipping and contributed to the May revenue. In addition, Speech ICs yielded good sales results owing to the seasonal demand. TFT-LCD Driver IC shipments also increased significantly. As a whole, sales performance in Logic products demonstrated continuous growth in May.
