(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of IC product solutions, today announced the revenue results for the month of May 2006. Revenue for the month was NT$2.599 billion, an increase of 9.86 percent, when compared to NT$2.365 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to May of 2006 was NT $11.170 billion, an increase of nearly 15.05 percent, when compared with NT $9.708 billion over the same period last year.
Winbond's increase in May revenue was from the sustained performance carried over from the previous month. In terms of Memory Products, the improvement was mainly due to the increased production of 12-inch fab. In terms of Logic Products, as it has been the hot season for Consumer Product, the revenues of speech ICs, Chip Coder and home appliance ICs grew. Meanwhile, the revenue of Motherboard related I/O ICs slipped due to the slow season for PC. Therefore, the overall revenue of Logic Products was flat when combining the revenues of both segments.
Looking forward to the third quarter, as it will be the traditional peak season for Information Electronics Products, we expect there will be an increasing demand on the Consumer Electronics and PC Peripherals. The production of 12-inch fab continues to grow steadily and leads to a continuous revenue growth of Memory Products.
