(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of June, 2008. Revenue for the month was NT$ 2.112 billion, a decrease of approximately 3.15 percent when compared with NT$ 2.18 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to June of 2008 was NT$ 12.984 billion, a decrease of nearly 22.55 percent when compared with NT$ 16.765 billion over the same period in 2007.
In terms of Logic products, the revenue of this month decreased because of the inflation resulting in the reduction of global consumer spending which influences the end market demand. In terms of Memory products, oil price fluctuate causing the global recession and the earthquake in Szechwan led to bad effects on Specialty DRAM. The shipment of NOR Flash decreased due to the diminishing demand from clients. Although the price of Commodity DRAM has recovered slightly, there was no increasing demand. To sum up, the revenue of Memory products decreased.
As a whole, since the current economy is struggling, and this creates uncertainty for the industry outlook, the overall revenue of next month is conservative.
