Winbond Announces Monthly Revenue for November

(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of November, 2008. Revenue for the month was NT$ 996 million, a decrease approximately 41.35 percent when compared with NT$1.698 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to November of 2008 was NT$ 20.745 billion.

As the economic downturn continuously hits market demands, our major customers are taking steps to cut their inventory levels. Thus, November business decreased when compared with the previous month. In the Specialty DRAM and Mobile RAM segments, shipments drop slightly. Flash revenue also fell due to weak demands in NB and DVD/VCD markets. Facing decreasing personal consumption expenditures as well as product prices caused by the depression, Winbond made flexible adjustment of production capacity and especially decreased Commodity DRAM shipments in response to the market demands. Therefore, revenue dropped in November.

Under the weakening macroeconomic environment, Winbond has a conservative outlook on next month.
