(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of March 2007. Revenue for the month was NT$ 2.840 billion, a decrease of approximately 7.13 percent when compared with NT$ 3.058 billion in the previous month because of the depressed price of DRAM. Accumulated revenue for January to March of 2007 was NT$ 9.498 billion, an increase of nearly 53.05 percent, when compared with NT$ 6.206 billion over the same period in 2006.
Logic Products had a better performance than last month. Because the effect of long holiday ended, the shipment of Consumer Products such as Speech ICs increased. Besides, due to the Vista switch effect, the demand of Computer Logic ICs like I/O controller increased which brought in the revenue. In terms of Memory Products, even though the demand of Specialty Products grew steadily, the revenue of Commodity Products decreased substantially because the current price of DRAM declined. The rising of Logic Products was offset by the falling of Memory Products in revenue that impacted the overall revenue of this month.
Looking forward to the beginning of second quarter, the demand of Logic Products shall increase gradually which is expected to have a positive contribution to the total revenue.
