(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced internal auditing revenue results for June 2000. Revenue for the month of June 2000, was NT $4.23 billion, a noteworthy increase of 119.43 percent when compared with NT $1.93 billion over the same period last year. The accumulated revenue of January to June 2000 totaled approximately NT $21.3 billion, an increase of 63.56 percent when compared with the accumulated total revenue of NT$13.0 billion over the same period last year.
The first half of this year has surpassed all milestones; June 2000 produced a historic record. The reasons for this record-breaking month include steady increases in unit pricing for DRAM products, consistently strong pricing of flash memory, robust sales for consumer electronics products and excellent market response to Winbond's total solution for VCD servo-decoders. The combination of these market dynamics enabled Winbond's June revenues to reach a record high of NT $4.23 billion. The Company expects that in the second half of the year, its DRAM IC Business Group will transition all of its DRAM production lines from 0.2 micron to 0.175-micron technology. This will increase production capacity while reducing production costs. The Company's General IC Business Group will continue its aggressive product strategy by launching a new line of TFT-LCD ICs. In addition, strong market demand is expected for the Company's network related IC products. Both Business Groups are therefore anticipating excellent revenue results and profits in the second half of the year.
