(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced the revenue results for the month of May, 2008. Revenue for the month was NT$ 2.18 billion, an increase of approximately 2.68 percent when compared with NT$ 2.123 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to May of 2008 was NT$ 10.872 billion, a decrease of nearly 25.06 percent when compared with NT$ 14.508 billion over the same period in 2007.
In terms of Logic products, the shipments of Speech ICs, such as Power Speech ICs, built up reflecting the seasonal demand, while the revenue of other product lines barely increased. Therefore, the overall revenue of Logic products was flat. In terms of Memory products, the coming of Olympics brought customers’ demands of Mobile DRAM and Winbond’s new products, the Serial Flash with serial peripheral interface. Although the price of Commodity DRAM has staged a sustainable recovery, there was no obviously increasing demand. To sum up, the revenue of Memory products only slightly grew.
As a whole, since Consumer Logic ICs enter the hot season, the revenue is expected to perform steadily, and the DRAM market is expected to recover gradually after this quarter.
