(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation today announced initial financial results for the month of October 2000. Monthly revenue was NT $4.133 billion, an increase of 19.47 percent when compared with NT $3.459 billion over the same period last year. Accumulated revenue for 2000, January to October, was approximately NT $40.971 billion. This reflects an increase of nearly 79.77 percent when compared with the accumulated total revenue of NT $22.791 billion over the same period last year.
Influenced by a softening in demand from the worldwide PC market and a reduction in DRAM pricing, Winbond's October revenue was slightly less than September's revenue. However, the Company still posted a healthy 19.47 percent increase in revenues when compared with same period of last year. Within the DRAM Business Group, the Company continues its transition to 0.175-micron production technology. October production reached 60 percent of total design capacity and the Company expects that production in November will reach 70 percent of total capacity.
The General IC Business Group launched a series of new products including IC solutions for the microprocessor, multimedia and wireless telecom markets. Initial customer response has been excellent, enabling the Company to post record-breaking sales for the month.
